ASIS Chapter 126

The American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS) is a professional association that is considered the premier organization for promoting the security professional and his contributions to ensuring safety and security for any organization.

The Southwest Arizona Chapter is a local group of security practitioners who look to promote and support the ASIS vision. The Chapter's membership includes security professionals from commercial sector, local government and federal service. Many of the local members have extensive experience in the security field with an unusually high number of CPP-qualified members in comparison with other chapters.

What is ASIS?

The American Society for Industrial Security is the largest international organization for security professionals, with more than 25,000 members worldwide. ASIS is dedicated to increasing the effectiveness and productivity of the security practitioner through focus on the best business practices in security management. This dedication is reflected in the ASIS vision: The American Society for Industrial Security will be the foremost organization advancing the security profession worldwide.

ASIS looks to increase the level of professionalism through a number of initiatives. ASIS and it's local chapters host numerous seminars and workshops ranging from a half-day schedule to 2-3 days. These seminars provide up-to-date information and education in current and proven countermeasures to protect organizational assets in services, materials and, most importantly, people. The national seminar programs culminate in the Annual Seminar and Exhibits -- an international event for security professionals world wide. ASIS also publishes Security Management magazine, a professional journal that provides both useful information and definitive analysis on contemporary issues in the security field. The Certified Protection Professional (CPP) program is a stringent certification process that is considered the hallmark designation of a security professional. These, and many more programs, have made significant strides in security professionalism.

Benefits of Membership

There are some extra benefits besides the educational and professional certification aspects of ASIS membership. ASIS members receive significant discounts on well regarded security publications and texts. Members may receive reduced seminar fees to both local and national events. Members also receive without charge an annual subscription to Security Management magazine along with newsletter Dynamics, the Annual Buyer's Guide, and extensive Membership Directory. Some additional value-added benefits are the opportunity to network with local security professionals and access to national leaders in the security industry.

Membership in ASIS demonstrates to others your commitment to the security profession and dedication to continuing professional development.  Your membership dues directly support the advancement of the security profession through the development of professional programs and materials, scholarships, research grants, and much more.
